The other day the Tampa Bay Lightning held an event on Twitter that involved running all around town trying to find some random person who had free tickets. The first person to arrive won tickets to the game and tickets with airfare to a game in Germany. I managed to snag some tickets, not to Germany but hey free tickets are free tickets!
The stadium has a silly camera policy, you can not bring bags, you can not have detachable lenses and the lens must be under 6inchs… I set out to test all of this seeing as how the tickets were free I felt I had nothing to lose. I loaded my 70-300 on my d300s and walked to the entrance, they actually have a camera lens measuring device, it is not a ruler but some odd hook contraption. They measured my lens and said “just barely”. I walked into the stadium and asked my girlfriend to had me my 35mm which she carried in for me, I swapped lenses and started walking around shooting. The 35mm was perfect for stadium shots and the 70-300 was great for the game. Still would like a 300mm or a 200-400 *hint*hint*hint*
The seats were pretty good too, section 214 row B… not bad at all. Check out the pictures I got of my second Tampa bay Lightning game this season and the Tesla Coils first game of the season!
Can’t wait to get to another game!!
